Differences in Maternal Health Outcomes
What is maternal health?
Maternal health refers to women's health during pregnancy, childbirth, and the postnatal period (up to 6 months after giving birth). Each year in the U.S., about 700 women die from pregnancy or delivery-related problems, and many of these deaths are preventable.
Why is CEAL focusing on maternal health?
Women from different backgrounds, those who are young or of advanced maternal age, and those with disabilities have higher rates of pregnancy-related problems and deaths.
