Community-Specific Health Disparities
What are community-specific health disparities?
Community-specific health disparities are differences in the burden of disease in certain community groups.
Why is CEAL focusing on community-specific health disparities?
Some communities bear a larger burden of disease than others. People of color and other hardest-hit groups encounter higher rates of illness and death from a wide array of health conditions. These disparities not only influence the quality of life for many communities, but also limits the overall health and welfare of the nation. Health disparities increase the costs of medical care and affect our economy due to loss of productivity and premature deaths each year.
