Community Engagement Alliance Regional Teams

The Community Engagement Alliance (CEAL) is built on the strength of local organizations with direct connections to the communities and individuals hardest hit by COVID-19. The program began months into the pandemic, intending to provide accurate and clear information about COVID-19 prevention and treatment, including vaccines, and enable the inclusion and participation of diverse communities in COVID-19 research, such as vaccine and therapeutic clinical trials. As COVID-19 shifts from a pandemic mode, CEAL Teams continue to address its lingering issues and other health disparities related to the social determinants of health.

Today, there are CEAL teams across 21 states, the District of Columbia, and Puerto Rico. The program collaborates with nearly 1,000 organizations and community partners — including health care providers and hospital systems, academic and research organizations, schools, faith-based groups, nonprofits, and other community-based organizations. With these partnerships, CEAL teams have held thousands of local events at which nearly hundreds of thousands of people received COVID-19 vaccines.
